Late Night Sessions - Part Two

First we need to REACH – the “dechurched” and “unchurched” young adults where they are. Those two terms refer to young adults who were either once part of a worshipping community of Christians and got jaded, or were never a part of a church. When I look at the life of the early Christians, these dudes were all initiators and innovators; they always found a creative way to engage the unchurched folks in their cities with the gospel (at whatever cost!).

Then we need to CONNECT - them into life-giving communities with other young adults. It’s been said that this generation is looking to “belong” before they’ll “believe”. Is it possible then for us to create small groups where young adults can easily get connected into? Groups where they can experience the power and love of God through the fellowship of believers?

Once connected, then we PREPARE – them to engage in healthy relationships at every level of their lives. Those healthy relationships include their bosses, friends, future spouse, non-Christians in their lives and ultimately their relationship with Jesus Christ. For the most part, we have focused in on this area on our Sunday evening gatherings and the small groups we’ve had. We can however be a lot more intentional by developing more leaders who’ll be able to teach, and raising the expectation level for what’s expected from each person.

Last but not least, we want to SEND – them back into the community to serve and influence people for Jesus Christ. We want them to be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus Christ to a doubting generation. Through their compassionate acts of service and caring attitude, our desire is that the unchurched and dechurched young adults they encounter would be drawn to Jesus Christ, and ultimately put their faith in him.

Putting it on paper is the easy part, now comes the hard and exciting work of actually doing it.
Wanna be a part of this mission to reach young adults in Northern New Jersey? Shoot me an email at remixministrynj@yahoo.com and let’s put it to action over some coffee (or ice cream at friendly’s).
